About Ian Hobbs

Ian Hobbs is an Artist / Photographer who has worked in a variety of media industry contexts. Since beginning to code in the 1990’s he has maintained a passion for image making at the intersection of image and code. A number of projects explore expressive responses to ideas of seeing and concerns with media and social contexts.
Early works explored still life approaches to picturing ideas, fantasies and landscapes. At the time I was really too lazy to deal with sculpture ( i had majored in sculpture and media ) as a practice but was motivated by form structure and language. So i created assemblages to visualize ideas. Now i think of the practice of still life as a kid of poetic –a short form, chamber music, temporary.
A lifetime of media work brings me to this moment where i need to complete these works and ideas that continue to consume my time and imagination.
