Gol Gumbaz at Bijapur Robyn Backen
Gol Gumbaz is the second widest dome in the world. It has a notable 7 echo acoustic feature which can be experienced from the upper deck. I assisted robyn in the visualisation of the structure. Photosynth was selected as a processing platform because we could yield point-cloud maps of the structure. We can render or analyse structural elements in 3D.
Normally Photosynth is quite well mannered but because the upper and lower levels are combined in the one document, there is a counter-intuitive jump down to the ground floor. This lovely project has charmed my interest in Lidar
